The wall of locks
Marrow’s unsold work covers the back wall, hundreds of locks deep. Six of them carry a ward, and one is already awake.
In short: Warlocked is a dark-fantasy escape room Escape This is developing for every one of its centres: Perth CBD, Northbridge, Manly, Sydney CBD and Melbourne CBD. The concept: a warlock’s sealed lock shop, a debt that falls due on the hour and sixty minutes to break his wards. No opening date has been set.
Halfway down a laneway the maps stopped bothering with stands a narrow shopfront, its gold lettering gone green: Marrow’s Lock & Key. It shut in 1891, and three generations of locksmiths have since failed to open its front door.
Its owner, Oswin Marrow, was the finest lockmaker of his age and wanted more. He made a bargain with a presence he only ever called the Creditor: no lock would refuse his hand, and none he made could be broken. The price was one soul, payable whenever the Creditor knocked.
Marrow never meant to pay with his own. So, every so often, a brass key arrives in the post for a handful of strangers, tied with a paper tag naming an address and an hour. This week the keys came to you.
The door swings open at a touch and seals behind your team with the thud of a vault. That is the moment you are warlocked: every exit bound by Marrow’s wards, seven sigils glowing on seven locks, and a ring of candles already burning down.
When the last flame dies, the debt falls due. Whatever waits behind the seventh door will step through it, and it is not particular about whose soul settles Marrow’s account.
Almost at once a dry, courteous voice offers to help, pointing out a loose floorboard here and a hidden keyhole there. Listen closely. Everything Oswin Marrow tells you is true, and none of it is for your benefit.
Every lock in the shop answers to the warlock. Make one of them answer to you.

Marrow’s unsold work covers the back wall, hundreds of locks deep. Six of them carry a ward, and one is already awake.

Every bargain and binding Marrow ever made is written in a chained book. It explains how a ward is laid, and hints at how one could be turned around.

Sixty candles ring a chalk sigil on the floor, one for each minute. When the last one goes out, the Creditor comes to collect.
In Marrow’s shop every lock is a promise kept by magic. Picking it gets you nowhere; you have to understand the ward that holds it shut.
Your team begins the hour warlocked. The title hints that the cleanest way out might be doing the very same thing to the warlock.
Escape This has confirmed Warlocked for all of its centres. None has a date yet.

Warlocked is a dark-fantasy escape room Escape This is developing. In the concept, your team is lured into Marrow’s Lock & Key, the sealed shop of a Victorian locksmith turned warlock, and must break his wards inside an hour before the being he owes comes to claim a soul.
Oswin Marrow is the warlock of Warlocked: a fictional lockmaker who traded for a gift that let him open any lock and craft locks nobody could break. He has spent well over a century arranging for strangers to cover the cost.
In Warlocked, Marrow owes a soul and has no intention of handing over his own. The anonymous brass keys posted to your team are bait; the moment you step through his door, his wards close every way out behind you.
The Creditor is the presence Oswin Marrow bargained with, and Warlocked never quite shows you its face. You know three things: it collects when the hour is up, it waits behind the seventh door, and any soul left in the shop will do.
The Warlocked concept marks time with sixty candles set around a chalk sigil on the floor, one for each minute of the game. Every flame that gutters brings the Creditor closer. The exact game length will be confirmed when the room is finished.
It does, and we won’t spoil it. Warlocked gives you a helpful voice in the shop from the first minute. Think hard about who is speaking and where the advice leads, because getting out takes more than opening the right door.
Warlocked is a pun: shut in by a warlock’s magic rather than by an ordinary bolt. The title also hints at how the story might end, because it reads just as well if the warlock is the one left locked away.
No. Warlocked is a standalone story with its own villain and setting. There is no castle, academy or class of young spellcasters, only one warlock, his cluttered lock shop and a debt he would very much like your team to pay.
No. Marrow’s Lock & Key, Oswin Marrow and the Creditor were all invented for Warlocked. Any likeness to a real locksmith, living or long buried, is pure coincidence.
Not yet. Warlocked is still in development and has no opening date, so anyone quoting one is guessing. Escape This will announce dates once the build is far enough along, and this page will change the same day.
If you live near an Escape This centre, yes. Escape This has confirmed Warlocked for every one of them: Perth CBD and Northbridge in Perth, Manly and Sydney CBD in Sydney, and Melbourne CBD. Which centre opens it first is still to be decided.
There isn’t. Warlocked can’t be booked while it is being built. Registering interest on the Escape This coming-soon page is the surest way to hear when sessions go on sale at your centre.
No prices have been set for Warlocked. Escape This usually publishes them when bookings open, and they can vary by city, by day of the week and between adult and child tickets.
Join the list on the Escape This coming-soon page, or follow Escape This on Instagram and Facebook, where Warlocked announcements will land first. The confirmed list further up this page is refreshed whenever news breaks.
Not necessarily. What this page describes is Escape This’s working concept for Warlocked. Character names, puzzles, sets and parts of the plot can all shift as the room is built and play-tested.
Group sizes for Warlocked haven’t been announced. Escape This will list the smallest and largest team it allows alongside the booking details when sessions are released.
Age guidance for Warlocked is still undecided. The concept leans dark fantasy rather than horror, but Escape This will confirm any minimum age, and whether younger players need an adult with them, before bookings open.
Nobody knows yet, because Warlocked has no difficulty rating. Escape This rates a room only after real teams have play-tested it, so expect a rating close to opening.
Warlocked is being shaped as dark fantasy: candlelight, glowing sigils, an old curse and a deadline you can feel, rather than jump scares. How intense the finished room is will be clearer once it is built and rated.
Warlocked is pitched at groups who like menace in their magic: fans of dark fantasy, occult mysteries and intricate puzzle boxes, plus anyone who has finished Escape This’s wizarding rooms and wants something with sharper teeth.
Warlocked is being written, designed and built by Escape This. Escape This is Australia’s largest escape room operator, and runs its own escape room design studio and escape room factory in Australia.
Escape This, the company making Warlocked, was named Escape Room Operator of the Year at the APAC Insider Australia Business Awards in both 2025 and 2026, among other honours.
Spell-casters can try The Wizard’s Chamber in Perth CBD or Sydney CBD, or School of Magic’s rooms in Manly and Melbourne. For something gothic before Warlocked arrives, Dracula plays at Northbridge.

Leave your details with Escape This and the first word of Warlocked sessions reaches you ahead of the crowd.
